Nothing beats ringing in the New Year like good wine and a nice soak in a Hot Tub

A restful day in Alexandria, lounging about in our traditional New Year's eve red underwear, natch.  A habit picked up from years spent in Sicily.  The Italians swear by red underwear...essential to good luck in the coming year.     Jay teleworked for part of the day, while I sat beside him shopping online.  We used up the leftover holiday ham in a pot full of butter beans and thoroughly enjoyed eating them, cuddled up on the couch in front of a fire happily watching a couple of old episodes of  the Sopranos.   We ate our 12 grapes each, earlier (a good luck tradition picked up in Spain) and made sure to to have a spoonful or two of lentils (another good luck tradition from Sicily) just before we slipped into the hot tub for the kick off to the New Year.  Opportunities to increase our good luck are never missed around here!  Midnight passed while we sipped some wine, floated in the tub, and caught the glow from the Old Town Alexandria fire works display.
